Start with the background COLOR of the goat, RED and BLACK are the basics.
Most BROWN goats have a red undertone, thus we refer to brown goats as RED.
If no red undertones as in a ash brown then just BROWN .
Chocolate and Mahogany are terms used for darker shades of red brown.
Sable is just a step off of Black generally has some red undertones. Now to determined the color patterns:
DAPPLED or MARBLED.
PAINT, TRI COLORED.

There is a clear belt of white separation colors usually around the belly

Marbled is when the background color is visible mainly on the head , legs and visible in random streaks and swirls throughout the body, quite often is called TIGER DAPPLE
This is when there are 3 different colors
